Before you start your search, pay attention to these 4points when inspecting used dump trucks sold at auction.
TRUCK BODY, DUMPBOX and TIRES
Move slowly around the dump truck to check the body for cracks, rust, dents or overhaul. When inspecting the body and tilting body, you’d better observe the tires and notice whetherthere is even tread around the tires.
FRAME, RAIL and AXLES
Carefully observe the rails of the truck frame to judge whether they are sagging or curved. In addition, you should notice the presence of the push axles and tag axles. The lifting axles distribute the weight over several axles, allowing the truck to meet different national regulations.
CAB and OPERATION
Have a look at the truck cab and assess the general condition of the interior. Check the odometer and record the mileage. Start the dump truck and make sure all instruments, signal lights and indicators are working properly. Please note if the dump truck has a manual or automatic gearbox. Drive the dump truck and check if the steering device was installed. Stop the dump truck and use the lifting control mechanism to check whether the cylinder and connecting rod are working stably.
HYDRAULIC LIFT CYLINDER and ENGINE
Check the lifting cylinder for cracks or leaks. Check the pumps and tanks for liquid leaks. Return to the cab and lower the dump box and check again if the job is working well. If you do not have experience with heavy equipment in the engine of a truck, you’d better hire a qualified technician.
